Sacraments and Ceremonies

The sacraments of the New Law were instituted by Christ and are seven: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony. These seven sacraments correspond to all the stages and important moments in the life of a Christian: they give birth and growth, healing and mission to the Christian life of faith. There is, therefore, a certain resemblance between the stages of natural life and the stages of spiritual life.

Saint Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologiae III, q. 65, a.1, c.

Anointing of the Sick

We wanted to remind you that when a sick person is seriously ill and needs a priest to hear their confession or give them the Anointing of the Sick, you should not delay in calling the priest.

It is necessary for the priest to attend to the sick person while they are still conscious. Do not wait until the sick person is unconscious and on the verge of death.
